The Treatment Action Campaign has been hosting a range of night vigils across the Free State province to educate and raise awareness on the collapse of the Free State healthcare system and the inability of the current provincial leadership to deal with the problem. TAC Free State held night vigils in Bloemfontein, Welkom and Deneysville and more than 1000 community members across the three areas attended the vigils. These peaceful, non disruptive vigils will continue until September 1st, when the 127 TAC activists and community healthcare workers who were arrested will appear in court.
TAC in the Free State will not be silent while the Free State government is in denial about the health challenges in the health facilities in the Free State.
- Fire the MEC Benny Malakoane
- Reinstate all Community Health Care workers into the health system
- Details on a short term emergency intervention
- A costed long term plan with timelines
We call on all partner organizations and individuals to support us on the 31st August 2014 for our night vigil and court hearing on the 1st September 2014.
